Overview of Worldwide Disastrous Earthquakes in the First Half of the Year 2003

20 0 3年 1～ 6月全球地震活动水平为中等偏低 ,地震灾情属于中等偏重。上半年全世界共发生M≥ 6地震 6 8次 ,其中M≥ 7地震 7次。地震造成约 2 4 6 8人死亡 ,1 2930多人受伤 ,经济损失约 8亿美元。重大灾害地震发生在土耳其和阿尔及利亚。

During the first half of the year 2003 the global seismicity was of medium level or slightly lower,the earthquake disasters were medium or slightly more serious.Altogether in the world there were 68 earthquakes of M≥6 occurring in the first half of the year,including 7 earthquakes of M≥7,about 2 468 people died,more than 12 930 people injured,and about 8 billion U.S.dollars of economic losses were caused by earthquakes.The significant disastrous earthquakes occurred in Turkey and Algeria.
