This paper describes the carrier phase differential GPS data formats in common use in the differential GPS system and discusses their development, formats and transmitted information by taking RTCM and CMR as examples. Their advantages and disadvantages are discussed and a conclusion is drawn that it is better to use CMR data format in low bandwidth condition.
