龙滩水电站工程是国家实施西部大开发和"西电东送"的重要标志性工程,是红水河上最闪亮的一颗明珠。它的开发建设,对于推进"西电东送",促进全国联网,在全国范围内实现能源资源的优化配置,对于满足广东和广西地区电力增长的需要,优化华南地区电源结构和电网结构,减轻红水河下游及西江两岸地区的洪水威胁,促进广西和贵州少数民族地区经济和社会的全面发展,具有巨大的作用。

The Longtan Hydropower Project is an important one in the implementation of national Great Western Development and the Power Transmission Project from West to East and is the brightest pearl in the Hongshui River. Its development and construction will play huge role in promoting the Power Transmission Project from West to East and the power grid connection in the whole country, and in realizing the optimal allocation of nationwide energy resources. It also can play huge role in meeting the increasing power demands in Guangdong and Guangxi and in optimizing the power source structure and power structure. It can reduce the flood threat on the downstream of the Hongshui River and two banks of the Xijiang River, and promote the economic and social development in Guangxi and Guizhou minority nationality regions.
