Objective To evaluate the clinical significance in the detection of uromicroprotein levels in acute head injured patients. Methods The patients with head injury were divided into 4 groups according to GCS(Glasgow coma scale) score: the most severe head injury group, severe head injury group, moderate head injury group and mild head injury group. The levels of urinary α 1 microglobulin(α 1 MG), microalbumin(MA) , transferring(TRF) and immunoglobulin G(IgG) were determined in all patients. Results The correlation analysis showed that the levels of uromicroprotein were negatively correlated with GCS score.Multiple stepwise regression was used to reveal that the levels of α 1 MG and IgG were closely related to the GCS score. Conclusion The determinations of uromicroprotein are useful for evaluating the severity of brain damage in patients with acute head injury and its kidney damage.
