Two progresses by the technology of continuous casting of steel & a lighter and more fuel-efficient passenger car led Japan & the U.S. decreased the demand of castings sooner or later by millions of tons. Meanwhile, since the early 1980s, Japan has preponderated over the U.S. in production of iron and steel making, and automobiles .At the same time, the U.S. had suffered from the shaking up of its traditional industrial culture, and had to pay a fully attention to the changes of market structureovercapacities by more than 40 million tons/a worldwide.
