现代化问题是关系到我国乃至整个人类社会发展的大问题。但是 ,由于“现代”一词有多种含义 ,现代化的种种含义和提法也有不科学的地方 ,人们对现代化的理解也各不相同。因此 ,人们倾心仰慕的“现代化”理论 ,不仅没有为人类指明社会发展的正确方向 ,而且还造成了社会发展方面的种种矛盾。较而言之 ,只有科学化才能指明社会发展的正确方向 ,只有用科学化代替现代化 ,才能使我们超越古代 ,超越现代 ,超越地区之间的不同 ,超越不同的阶级和阶层 ,用最经济的办法 ,把人类社会引向更加幸福、更加美好的明天。在世纪之交的关键时刻 ,我们应该对现代化理论进行反思 ,并以邓小平理论作为指导社会实践与社会发展的科学理论。只有这样 ,我们才能开创 2

The problem of modernization is one of great importance which will influence not only the development of our country but also the development of the human society as a whole. However, the variety of the meanings of the word modernization, some of which are unscientific, has led to different understanding of the problem of modernization among the people. As a result, far from indicating to mankind the correct orientation of social development, the theory of modernization, admired so much by people, has given rise to various contradictions in the course of social development. At the critical point of the beginning of the new century, we should reconsider our theory of modernization and find out the scientific theory which can direct the development of our society. Only thus can we usher in a new era——the era of 21 st century.
