A Computer aided Examination (CAE) is a kind of examination which could accomplish the task of teaching assessment with computer. Based on the demand analysis of the examination system and the condition of the hardware, The paper defines the specific functions of the CAE system. Then it analyzes the key functions and techniques of the system, such as the structure of exam database file,the collection and store of the students' answers,as well as the evaluation to the students.
