This paper, by making analysis of pragmatic principles and strategies underlying anaphoric repair, attempts to show that CP is the general pragmatic principle modulating anaphoric repair sequence, in which the negotiation strategy will be made full use of by interlocutors for the final observance of CP, and that Economy Principle and Clarity Principle, as the determining factors for the referential choice in the sequence, may function as the most important and operable pragmatic principles for this phenomenon.
