The Humanized Tradition and Spirit of Science

科学的本义是作为实现人(性)理想的学问,是西方传统意义上的"人文科学",它所体现的是一种无功利的自由探求人生学问的精神。科学不是实用的知识学习和追求,而是摆脱实际的需要,超越功利地"为知识自身而求取知识"的自由探求和思考。因此,真正的科学精神,应是为实现人文理想的自由探索精神,它包括精密的思想习惯或态度、历史的思想习惯或态度和批判的思想习惯或态度。

The original meaning of science is a knowledge to realize human's ideals, which is a traditional 'humanity science' in western country that embodies a spirit of seeking knowledge of life freely non-utilitarian. Not a utility knowledge studying and chasing, science is a demand to go away from reality and a free explore and reflect of 'gaining knowledge for knowledge itself' with exceeding utilitarian. Consequently, the true scientific spirit is the spirit of exploring freely how to realize humanity ideal, which includes précised, historical and critical moral habits and attitudes.
