This paper analyzes thoroughly the characteristics of legal s ystem dur ing the Wei,Jin and Southern & Northern Dynasties according to the characteristi cs of the epoch,and affirms fully the important position of its legal system in the history of Chinese legal system.It points out clearly that the Wei,Jin and S outhern & Northern Dynasties is an important period in the history of Chinese le gal system from the initial stage in the Qin-Han Dynasty to the mature stage in the Sui-Tang Dynasty.
