摘要
The microstructures and properties of Ti-Si alloys prepared by arc-meltingwith non-consumable tungsten electrode in a water-cooled copper hearth under a purified argonatmosphere were studied in this paper. The results of XRD indicate that the Ti-Si as cast alloys arecomposed of α-Ti matrix and Ti_5Si_3 intermetallics. The enthalpy of formation of the Ti_5Si_3 ismore negative than that of β-Ti phase, thus Ti_5Si_3 precipitates firstly. The compressive strengthand ductility of eutectic Ti-Si alloy were examined. The fracture surfaces indicated that thefracture of Ti-Si alloy is cleavage brittle fracture. But the fracture mechanism is different fromthat of the type of the alloy.
