The functions such as economy, formality,precision,objectivity,authority and cohesion realized by nominalizing metaphor in a discourse are studied. The special result achieved in a political discourse by the deliberate choices of nominalization and nonnominalization of verbs and adjectives is analyzed. A higher awareness of nominalizing metaphor helps one to achieve a better understanding of a discourse.
