Xu Rongjuan is a prestigious specialist in thyroid diseases.She holds that thyroid diseases are caused by various pathogenic factors.The pathogenesis is:stagnation of liver energy and failure of spleen transportation first leads to stagnation of Qi,phlegm and blood,which then chronically consumes the healthy Qi.So the primary cause is the asthenia of Qi and Yin and the secondary is the stagnation of Qi,phlegm and blood.The therapeutic principle can be concluded as relieving the primary and secondary symptoms simultaneously,which refers to regulating Qi and removing blood stasis,eliminating phlegm and dispersing the stagnated liver energy with enriching Qi and Yin at the same time.
