An analysis of the mechamsm of plastic zone tightening of bolt connection indicates that, in order to render optimum pretension to the bolt in the state of plastic zone tightening, an optimum turn angle of the nut must be ensured.This article discusses the method for determining the desirable turn angle of nut and the problems on the application of this method to oil field equipment.
