The loss of beauty -An analysis of the images of women in modernism poetry

现代主义时期,西方诗歌中的女性意象从浪漫主义的“美”转变为现代主义的“丑”。本文运用女权主义批评的理论与方法,从三个视角分析现代主义诗歌中的女性意象:一、作为异化大众的女性意象;二、作为性和情爱对象的女性意象;三、作为叙述意识的女性意象。通过分析,我们认为,造成女性意象转变的原因主要源自以下三个方面:一、艺术风格的转型;二、诗人对现实环境的异化感;三、父权制文化的影响。

In the modernism era, the images of women in the western poetry have been changed from the 'beauty' of Romanticism to the 'ugly' of Modernism. Employing the theories and approaches of feminist criticism, the article analyzes the images of women in Modernism poetry from three perspectives: 1, images of women as alien public; 2, images of women as the objects of sex and love; 3, images of women as narrative consciousness. Through analysis, the causes which changed women's images are mainly lying in following aspects: 1, the change of artistic style; 2, the poets' sense of alienation to realistic environment; 3, the impact of patriarchal culture.
