On the Cultivation of the Student's Communicative Competence and Thinking Ability in EFL Teaching

The cultivation of the students' communicative competence and thinking ability is supposed to be essential to EFL teaching. This paper deals with the relation of linguistic competence, pragmatic competence, and communicative competence, and attempts to analyze the relation between communicative competence and thinking ability in accordance with Linguistics and Cognitive psychology. Importance is attached to the necessity and possibility of the cultivation of the students' communicative competence and thinking abilities in the process of EFL teaching.
