The Qrigin Research of China's Cotton Planting and Textile Industry

对中国植棉业和手工棉纺织业的起源问题，目前有二种看法：即宋末元初说和唐朝边疆说。笔者认为，中国植棉与棉织业当起源于东汉时期，发展于三国两晋南北朝隋唐宋元，繁荣于明清；鸦片战争后，由于洋纱布的大量输入，中国的手工棉织业趋向衰落。

As to the origin of China's cotton planting and manual cotton textile industry, there are two different views :one is the theory of the end of the Song Dynasty and the beginning of Yua Dynasty ; the other is that of the border areas of the Tang Dynasty. The author thinks that China's cotton planting and textile industry originated in the period of the Eastern Han Dynasty and developed in the Three kingdoms, the Two Jings, the Nor ther and Southern Dynasties and the Dynasty of the Sui, Tang, Song and Yuan, and the Dynasty of the Ming and Oing were its prosperous period , After the Opiun Ware, owing to agreat quantity of the import of foreign yarn and cloth, China's manual cotton textile industry inclined to be on the wane.
