A Comparison of Differences between English and Chinese and Their Translation

英语和汉语由于各自的文化背景、风俗习惯、思维方式等不同,各自在词法、句法、篇章结构诸方面皆存在较大差异,英汉对比研究有助于翻译实践。本文重点从句法层面对英汉语在形合与意合、静态与动态的表达倾向、被动与主动语态的使用、物称与人称、句子结构、句子重心与修饰语的位置六个方面的主要特点和差异进行比较与探讨,并尝试运用于指导翻译实践。

In the aspects of lexicology, syntax and discourse exist a lot of differences between the English and Chinese language mainly because of the different cultural background, customs , and thinking ways Based on the comparative study of the two languages, which is very helpful for E-C translation, this paper, at the level of the syntax, focuses on comparing the main differences and features between hypotaxis and parataxis, static and dynamic expressions, active and passive voices, personal and impersonal subjects, sentence structures and the positions of modifiers in sentences It aims at applying the method as a guide for E-C translation practices
