Historical Education and the Duke of Zhou

摘要 周公在殷周之际社会剧变的背景下 ,注重从三代兴亡更替的历史变革中归纳总结经验教训 ,逐步形成了系统的以“敬德”“保民”为基本内涵、以“夏鉴”“殷鉴”为主要标志的历史鉴戒思想。而且 ,他重视历史经验教训的现实意义 ,身体力行地以各种方式对统治集团及广大民众进行以史为鉴的历史教育 ,从而把历史鉴戒思想与现实实践很好地结合起来。 As an outstanding politician and thinker,against the background of violent social Changes between the Yin and the Zhou Dynasty, the Duke of Zhou laid stress on summarizing experiences and lessons from the historical transformation,and evolved a systematic set of theories about historical warning.“Jing De” and “Bao Min”were the theories’rudimentary content,“Xia Jian”and“Yin Jian”were their main symbol, and what’s more, the Duke of Zhou attached great importance to using extensive means to educating the common people and the ruling class,thus he successfully combined his historical thought of warning with the realistic society.In a word, he was a real founder of historical education in ancient China.
