Briefly on the Structure of Driving Force for Social Development

我们不能从“人”之外的领域来考察社会发展的内在动力,“人”本身的需要正是社会发展的最终动力。社会基本矛盾是推动社会发展的根本动力、人民群众是推动社会前进的决定力量、阶级矛盾是推动阶级社会前进的内在动力,它们是从三个侧面对人的需要这一社会发展的最终动力的不同表现;这些力量共同形成了社会发展的内在动力结构。我国当前只有实行经济体制改革和政治体制改革两条腿走路,充分调动广大人民群众对社会发展参与的积极性和历史主动性,建立健全社会主义市场经济新体制,才能真正满足人的需要,并最终推动社会的全面进步。

We cannot detach the horizon of man to examine the internal power of social development, for 'man's' demands remain the motive power for social progress. Social basic contradictions are the power to push society forward, the masses the deciding force to drive society ahead, class contradictions the original strength to advance class society--the three parts compose the internal force structure for social development, reflecting each side of man s needs the motive power for social progress. The paper holds that only through carrying out economic reform and political reform, bringing the masses enthusiasm and historical initiative into full play, and improving our socialist market economy can man's demands be satisfied and society be fully pushed forward.
