H.26L is new generation of video coding standard,which can reduce the bit-rate for a given subjective quality compared to H.263+ to about 50%. In this paper,some outstanding properties of H.26L are introduced in more detail,including:intra-frame residual coding,integer cosine transform,universal variable length coding,double scanning,a nember of different blocksized used for motion prediction and 1/8 pixel motion estimation etc.
