This paper provides a panoramic view of such items as Title Page ,Table of Contents,Preface/Foreword/Introduction,Guide to the Use of the Dictionary,Explamations of Abbreviations and Symbols,which are usually concluded in the front matter of a dictionary,tracing their line of development and analyzing them from a diachronic and functional perspective.
