Huizhou merchants in the north of Zhejiang in the Ming and Qing Dynasties

从明代中期起 ,越来越多的徽商进入浙北杭州、嘉兴、湖州三府市镇 ,开展多种形式的经营活动 ,尤以在丝织、米粮、木材、盐、典当等行业最为活跃。徽商不仅在促进当地市镇经济繁荣和社会发展方面起了很大的作用 ,而且对提升市镇品味 ,提高市镇的知名度、美誉度 ,也产生了积极的影响。

From the middle of the Ming Dynasty, more and more Huizhou merchants came to Hangzhou, Jiaxing and Huzhou in Zhejiang doing businessen and especially prosperous in such businesses as rice, wood, salt and pawnbroking. They contributed much not only to the economical prosperity and social development but also to the promotion of the cultural taste and fame there.
