浅谈习俗在成语中的表现和此类英语成语的翻译

On Custom-loaded Idioms and the Translation of This Kind of English Idioms into Chinese

成语比一般词汇包含的信息量大得多 ,因此也就更能反映文化 ,许多文化因素都来自于习俗 ,习俗是文化的一个重要部分。文章通过大量的实例阐述成语蕴涵习俗内涵 ,此类英语成语翻译应忠实而准确地译出其含义 ,翻译方法可采用对应法、直译法、意译法、直译加意译法。

This paper argues that idioms are custom-loaded, and that the deep meaning of this kind of English idioms should be faithfully and correctly and completely translated through a skillful use of finding corresponding idioms in Chinese, literal translation, liberal translation, literal translation plus liberal translatio,and liberal translation plus explanation etc.
