Information About the 2nd International Strategic Workshop on Preventing the Transmission of HIV From Mothers to Babies

摘要 1 背景 目前全球HIV的流行已达到了令人惊愕的程度,按现在的速度发展下去,其威胁将超过世界上其他所有健康问题的总和.至1999年底,全球HIV感染者总数已超过3,360万,其中95%分布在发展中国家.每年有600万人感染HIV(即每天1.6万人受感染),其中一半是青年(15-24岁),40%是妇女.每年有240万感染HIV的妇女生育,造成每年60万新生儿的感染.现在,全球每一分钟就有一名婴儿感染HIV,每天有1600名婴儿受感染.90%的HIV感染儿是由母亲传给的,而那些因为母亲HIV阳性而暂时尚未感染HIV的儿童,也正在受到与日俱增的死亡的威胁.HIV的流行已使800万儿童成为孤儿,一场孤儿危机正在发生.每年死于HIV感染的儿童在50万以上,HIV/AIDS已成为儿童的一个主要死因.在乌干达进行的一项队列研究表明,34%的HIV感染儿童死于1岁以内,66%死于3岁之内,75%死于5岁之内.
