旧民主主义文化纲领具有消解狭隘的种族主义思想,初步认清帝国主义侵略的概念、强调民主政治制度与意识的互动关系、强调用科学文化知识改造国民性格的历史进步意义。但它无法用科学的理论分析民族与阶级、帝国主义侵略与西方先进文化、民主意识与阶级意识、科学文化与阶级斗争的关系,因而无法打破帝国主义奴化思想与封建主义复古思想的反动同盟。

The old democratic cultural platform had its historic progressive significance for its dispelling the narrow ideology of racialism, preliminarily understanding the concept of the invasion of imperialism, emphasizing the interaction between democratic political system and consciousness, and highlighting the reformation of the national personality with scientific cultural knowledge. But the relation between nation and class, the invasion of imperialism and the advanced western culture, the democratic consciousness and class consciousness, and scientific culture and class conflict could not be analyzed with a scientific theory, therefore, the reactionary alliance of the slavery ideology of imperialism and the ancient-reviving ideology fudalism could not be defeated .
