从英语和汉语两种语言造句法的不同,即英语重形合,汉语重意合,探讨在英译汉中英语词、词组、从句和句子的拆译,认为以词组和从句为基本切分单位是可行的。

The paper makes a comparision between the difference of Chinese and English sentencemaking.English sentence is characterized by h ypotaxi,whereas the feature of Chinese sentence is parataxis.It probes into di vision of English words,phrases,clauses and sentences in translation of Englis h into Chinese.We come to the conclusion that taking phrase and clause as basic unit in translation of English into Chinese is practical.
