A brief review is presented on the advancement in research on the greenhousegas emission, greenhousc effect, global warming and their relationship with foretry. Arapid increase of greenhouse gas concentration in the atmosphere and the global warm-ing have been well known facts. There are still some uncertainties existing in the predic-tion of future climate. Efforts in reducing the uncertainties and taking timely appropriatestrategies should be made to avoid deterioration of climate. The research on the role offorests in world carbon budget was reviewed in detail. The varieties of results Were ex-plained as the uncertainties in world forest resources and other components. Accordingto calculation by the author the forests of China absorbed 2.5 million ton carbon per yearduring the past 5 years, and further efforts are being made to give a more precise result.The literature concerning the influence of climate change on forest ecosystems isreviewed, too. Framework models are suggested to set up to evaluate the potentialinflences or changed climate on forest ecosystems. Strategies or mitigating greenhouse gasemissions and adapting the potential change of climate are important aspects in the re-scarch. Economic analysis should be conducted in evaluating the loss and gain by strate-gies in mitigating greenhouse gas emisssions.
