Scientific Research on the Woody Environment in the Circle of Forest Product Research in Japan

本文就木质环境学的研究目的、意义、内容和范围,以及研究方法和研究成果等做了概要性介绍;对木材的表面性质和视觉特性、室内气候的影响、生物生存调节进行了简要论述;对开展将合中国实际的木质环境学研究提出了建议.

This paper gives a brief account of research of the science of woody environ-ment. Recommendations are also made on carrying out the scientific research on woodyenvironment true to realities in China. Woody environment is a new branch of sciencefounded by scholars of wood science in Japan. The aim of research is to explain scientifi-cally the function and effect of woody environment on the psychology and physiology ofhuman beings. It focuses on Finding out the mutual relation between the parameters ofperception characteristics and the physico-chemical properties of woodyenvironment. The methodology of such a study is to reveal the corresponding relationbetween these two things. For example: the aspects emphasized are the increment anddecrement of wood, natural feeling of wood, surface features and visual characteris-tics, nature of sound and the accoustic characteristics, naturc or substance and physi-cal sensation, modification of the temperature and humidity in the woody space andthe regulation of the existence of living organs. China has a very vast terrtory, andthere is enough woody living space, either regional or local. Hence, it is necessary toconduct the study on woody environment according to suitable local conditions.
