The paper analyze the relations between the section characteristics of the tubes and the roll gap adjustment,and deduces the calculating equations for mandrel diameter under the conditions of a given wall thickness range and a certain additional deviationFinally,by considering an actual mandrel series in the production of a Φ180mm mandrel pipe mill,the paper further gives a beneficial discussion on the designing and selecting methods for mandrel diameter series
