The Trends of Mao Zedong Studies in the West: From 1990s

随着20世纪90年代"冷战"状态的缓解或质变,也随着中国内部政治战略的再度调整,西方毛泽东及其思想的研究也出现了明显转向。在总体趋势方面可概括为:从"意识形态论辩"走向"学术理路分析";从"区域性政策的研究"走向"理论体系内的评价";从"单一政治分析"走向"方法论多元化"三大趋向。西方学者的问题意识和研究方法,对国内同一研究领域具有借鉴意义。

There exists an obvious transformation on Mao Zedong Studies in the West with the changing or dulling situation of 'Cold War', and with readjusting adherence to policy in domestic affairs of China. The general tend can be concluded as three points, e.g. from 'criticism ideology' to 'analysis on learning', 'study for region policy ' to 'evaluate in the theory', and 'political judgment only' to ' methodology pluralism'. To Chinese scholars, this tend to study on Mao Zedong in the West would have much significance of enlightening for their study. 
