Zhou Zuoren studied the Japanese culture widely from the daily life, customs and rites, literature and art to religious belief and national characteristics, revealing the specific character of the Japanese culture. In the meanwhile, he surpassed the narrow national consciousness, and confirmed the originality and the special value of the Japanese culture. He put forward a series of theories which broadened our vision of study and deepened our comprehension of the Japanese culture. He contributed greatly to the Sino Japanese cultural exchange.
