The Connotation and Characteristics of Civilization

本文揭示了文明的内涵,并对文明内容的普遍性与特殊性、文明形态的多样性与互补性、文明价值的正向性与共享性、文明发展的连续性与阶段性、文明关系的开放性与兼容性作了系统阐述。正确把握这些特性,是科学认识人类文明发展规律的客观要求,也是加强社会主义文明建设的基本前提。

This paper first reveals the connotation of civilization and then elaborates systematically the universality and particularity of its content, the diversity and complementarity of its formation, the positivity and sharability of its value, the continuity and phase of its development as well as the openness and compatibility of its relationship. A correct grasp of these traits is not only an objective requirement for the scientific understanding of the developmental rule of human civilization but also a basic prerequisite for the reinforcement of the construction of socialist civilization.
