在早期的两篇论戏剧的论文中,席勒列举了戏剧的诸多功能,但是,最后还是把戏剧的功能归结为使人性达到完整。作为戏剧家的青年席勒在西方美学史上较早地谈到了戏剧艺术的人类学功能———教育、塑造、形成和造就人和民族。这种关于戏剧的人类学功能的美学思想对于建设中国特色的戏剧美学思想是一种极其有借鉴意义的思想,值得我们批判继承。

Schiller listed many functions of drama in his early papers but at last generalized them to integrating human nature. Schiller, as a dramatist, fairly early discussed about anthropological significances in educating and molding man and nation. His aesthetics on drama provided references to constructing Chinese aesthetics on drama and was worth to be inherited critically.
