With the detailed data from census 2000 in the pearl river delta area, the paper tries to outline the features of floating population in the areas with large size of floating population, and demonstrates that the reform of household registration system, which is to come inevitably, may bring about some problems to the local family planning. It seems pressing for the functional departments concerned in the government to study these issues and be ready for these problems.
