The Unbalance of Birth Sex Ratio in Guangdong:Causes and Countermeasures

本文对广东出生人口性别比偏高的现状与特点进行分析的基础上,就其危害与成因以及应采取的相应对策进行了探讨。作者指出:传宗接代问题、农村养老问题、性别选择、溺弃女婴、瞒报和基层计生工作不到位等是导致出生人口性别比偏高的最主要因素,要促进性别比平衡必须采取有效措施,实行综合治理。

Based on the data from the census 2000, this paper analyzes the characteristics and causes of high birth sex ratio in Guangdong. Generally speaking, the main causes of high birth sex ratio are these such as the idea of ancestral continuity which focus on the partiality for sons, the social security system especially the supports to the old, sex selection in pregnancy through B- ray, killing, abandonment and purposely failiar of registration of female baby, etc. It is a serious social problem and has to take some effective measures.
