湖南近现代人才的专业结构是不合理的,军事、政治型人才多,而经济型人才少。为了促进湖南人才的发展,以适应以经济建设为中心的社会需要,必须研究湖南人才的特点,认识湖南人才的发展规律,着力发现和培养经济型人才,从而形成以经济型人才为主体的湖南人才新结构。

The real situation about the talented from Hunan doesn't agree with the present economic development, for people distinguished in military and politics outnumber those in economy while the latter is badly needed. In order to develop the talented required by the economy-oriented China, it is essential to learn about the characteristics and nature of the people of Hunan before we can nurture and train more people who can meet the requirement.
