In The Tragedy of Brandy Sims,Ernest J. Gaines explores the birth,breeding and derivation of evils,presents the tension in the father-son relation,the racial relation and the neighborhood relation,and reveals the inherent correlation between the bigotry of'correctness'and the evolution of evils. Gaines reveals the absurdity of 'disciplinary correctness'from the aspects of ill-treatment of juveniles,destruction of law and staking everything on one last throw,discloses the unreasonableness of 'egoist correctness'from the aspects of business,gambling and utility,and unveils the anti-socialness of danger-avoiding correctness in the self-protection and the syndrome of Stockholm.
