On Kang Guangren

“戊戌六君子”之一的康广仁是戊戌时期维新思想的出色宣传家和实行者。创办和经营《知新报》及大同译书局、倡导和组织妇女不缠足运动及女子学堂是他对于维新事业的重要贡献。他直接参与了百日维新 ,是维新派的核心人物之一 ,对于那场维新运动 ,他有独到见解 ,并以其思想和行动影响了那场维新运动 ,在维新运动史上占有重要地位。

Kang Guangren is a propagandor and reformer during the period of the Constitutional Reform and Modernization of 1898. His great contribution to the reform is that he ran and managed “Zhi Xin Bao”(a newspaper) and Datong Publishing House, that he initiated and organized women movement and a girl’s school.He joined directly in the 100-day reform movement and became one of the important figures. What’s more, he had his own stand of that reform movement and influenced the movement through his thought and action.
