双关语是英语文学作品和影视剧中一种十分重要的修辞手法,美国情景喜剧中经常会利用词语的谐音、多音甚至歧义使得语言更加风趣幽默。本文从美国情景喜剧《破产姐妹》的字幕出发分析双关语的语言幽默,回顾了双关语的应用、梳理了双关语的类型、分析了双关语的功能,希望通过对双关语的研究能够对美剧字幕翻译所传达的语言幽默有所启发。

Pun is one of the most important rhetorics in English literature and TV serials, and it is often used in sitcom to make language more interesting and humorous. The thesis mainly analyzes the language humor of pun from the perspective the subtitles of American sitcom called Two Broke Girls, reviewing the application of pun, combing the types of pun and analyzing the functions of pun. It is hoped that the study of puns can enlighten the verbal humor conveyed by subtitles in American TV series
