艺术一直是发现“我们是谁”的独特手段。艺术既能提供像科学或数学那样训练有素的理科思维方式,又能提供与哲学或文学完全不同的文科思维方式。地球上的每一种文化和每一个人都在使用艺术并被艺术塑造着。艺术几乎渗透在我们生活的所有方面—驱动经济的创意和智能资本中的很大一部分来源于艺术。每当我们体验到一首记忆深刻的歌曲带给我们的愉悦,从雕塑家的作品中感到灵光的闪现,观看一支绝妙的舞蹈,从令人激动的动画里受教,或是被整场精彩的戏剧所打动,艺术便为我们的生活带来了意义。

Understanding and Using the National Core Arts Standards The arts have always served as the distinctive vehicle for discovering who we are.Providing ways of thinking as disciplined as science or math and as disparate as philosophy or literature,the arts are used by and have shaped every culture and individual on earth.
