At Thirty,Macao Dance Association Stands Firm

澳门舞蹈协会如今已经走过了30年的光辉历程。在舞蹈界前辈的鼎力支持下,笔者和全体会员全身心投入,使澳门舞蹈协会茁壮地成长起来。30年来,澳门舞蹈协会举办了多种类型的社会文化活动,这些活动的突出点是:文化交流、艺术推广、发展创新。本会始终坚持的宗旨是:致力推动澳门舞蹈艺术发展与普及,搭建平台加强舞蹈工作者与爱好者间之团结和艺术交流,通过互相学习,共同提高,成为对外文化交流、联谊创新的桥梁。澳门舞蹈协会将一如既往地以中华民族团结奋进、自强不息的精神,在舞蹈领域上不断创新,不断吸收新理念,不断创造新舞技,将传播中华文化深厚的底蕴,弘扬我们伟大的民族精神作为我们文化艺术界歌颂、歌唱的永恒的主题。

Conforming to the historical trend,the Macao Dance Association was established in April 1986.Today,it has a three-decade glorious history.The author is grateful to the committee members and the majority of members who have trusted her and elected her as the chairwoman in the consecutive terms.With the full support of the older generation,all the members and the author have devoted to making the association thrive.The poem of the Qing Dynasty poet ZHENG Ban-qiao,'New Bamboo,' can describe the growth: 'New bamboo is higher than the old bamboo,it is because the latter has supported the earlier.Next year there will be the new born,flourishing around the pool.'For the past thirty years,the Macao Dance Association has held various types of social and cultural activities.They aim to promote cultural exchanges,arts marketing,and development and innovation.The main activities include charitable visits,seminars and workshops,and book publication.The association also hosts the Macao International Open Dancesport,groups Macao team for international competitions,and organizes Macao InterSchool Dance Competition.Since Macao’s return,we have hosted Dance Exchange for Mainland,Hong Kong,Taiwan,and Macao as well as dance photography competitions and exhibitions annually.Especially the annual performance,co-organized with Zhuhai Dancers Association and held alternatively in the two cities,is the thirteenth season in 2017.We also collaborate with Beijing Dance Academy holding Chinese Dance Grade Examination Course and Teacher Training Course — it has entered the 21 st and 20 th sessions this year.The recent regular activity is to organize Cross Strait’s children’s singing and dancing groups to make academic exchanges and performances in Macao,Hong Kong,Mainland,and Taiwan.The new cultural project,'My Heart,Your Heart' Music and Dance Art Festival — Children’s Cultural Exchanges and Performances,is the fourth season in 2017.It builds a platform for children who have literary and artistic talents,realizing their goals in earlier age.It also provides opportunity to discover and train talents,reserving them for the cultural and artistic development in Macao and other areas.The association has held various types of dance classes for people of all ages,aiming to enhance the quality and cultural literacy of the public.The dance talents trained over the years have become the elite of Macao dance.They have started their career in different sections of dance industry in Macao autonomously: some have started their own companies or communities;some are the dance instructors in institutions or organizations.They have trained a large number of dance talents widely praised and valued by the community.The growth andeffort of the young generation can be praised by using Tang Dynasty poet LI Shang-yin’s poem,'Write a poem to HAN Wo at Dinner,' 'Lining along the Danshan Road,endless are the tung blossom.Among the singing of old and young phoenixes,more euphonious are the chicks.'In the past thirty years,it is particularly noteworthy that the Macao Dance Association published Dance Development in Macao(1980—2000) at the beginning of this century.Edited by the author,this book systematically summarizes and delineates the development of dance culture and arts in Macao and cultural needs of Macao people based on comprehensive and accurate historical data.It scientifically summarizes and describes the development of Macao dance culture and arts and the cultural needs of the people of Macao.With readability and historical value,this book will go down in history of the cultural development in Macao.The performance of the association has been affirmed by the community.In 2013,the author was appointed to assist the Macao Foundation to work on A Collection of Historical Literature on Chinese Dance: Macao Volume,one of the 'Ten Collections/Annuals on Literature and Arts' funded by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China.This book was implemented by the members of the association.It not only showed the government’s trust to the association but also gave the association the opportunity to develop itself.Despite the difficulties,the whole editing team undertook the task with firm belief.Now,the book is at the final reviewing stage.The association has been upholding its mission to 'promote the development and popularization of danceart in Macao and build a platform to strengthen the unity and artistic exchange among dance professionals and dance enthusiasts.Through mutual learning and joint improvement,they will serve as a bridge for international cultural exchanges as well as amity and innovation.'In terms ofintroducing the thirty years’ development history of Macao Dance Association,this article cannot be exhaustive.The author provides the list of major activities of the Macao Dance Association in 2014—2016 with the hope that the readers can have a general impression of the working performance of the Macao Dance Association.In short,the Macao Dance Association will continue to innovate,absorb new ideas,and perform new dance techniques in the spirit of Chinese nation that makes progress from generation to generation and exerts oneself constantly in the course.It wishes that the traditional Chinese culture and national spirit would be shining and radiant in Macao and more younger generation dance professionals would surpass them,for this is the development,the thriving,and the booming course of dance.It has a responsibility to protect and encourage the progress and development of the new-generation dancers.'The teachers’ white hair shines under the moonlight.They use their heart and blood to nurture the new flowers.' The arts and culture circles will disseminate the profound heritage of Chinese culture and promote the great national spirit,taking them as the eternal theme to praise,to sing.
