四川省歌舞剧院成立于1953年,是四川省内第一批国办文艺院团,具有鲜明的中国西部地域特色与民族特色,2009年被确定为全省国有文艺院团体制改革试点单位,2010年转企改制为四川省歌舞剧院有限责任公司。进入新时代,该院不忘初心、砥砺前行,以企业的形式继续着舞蹈艺术创新之路,在贯彻落实习近平总书记系列讲话重要精神、繁荣社会主义文艺、弘扬社会主义正能量、推动巴蜀文艺进步发展、丰富人民群众精神文化生活的同时,开始探索国有文艺院团的市场化发展路径,以精品打造带动院团发展,注重人才培养与后备资源储备,着力培育演出市场、观众市场,兼顾社会效益与经济效益。

Founded in 1953, Sichuan Song and Dance Theater is one of the first state-run arts troupes in Sichuan Province. It has distinctive regional and ethnic characteristics of western China. In 2009, Sichuan Song and Dance Theater was designated as one of the pilot entities for the reform of the state-owned artistic and cultural institutions in the province. It was corporatized as Sichuan Song and Dance Theater Co., Ltd in 2010. Entering the new era, Sichuan Song and Dance Theater has never forgotten its original intentions and has been advancing forward to continue its innovative approach to dance art in the form of enterprise. It has carried out the important spirit of General Secretary XI Jin-ping’s series of speeches, prospered the socialist literature and arts, and started to explore the market-oriented development pathof the state-owned arts troupes to drive the development of the troupe by excellent works, pay attention to talent training and resource reservation, and focus on cultivating the performance market and the audience market in terms of both social and economic benefits.Firstly, creating outstanding Bashu literary and artistic works to enhance the artistic quality of the theater. Sichuan Song and Dance Theater has explored the unique charm of Bashu culture in depth based on its own advantages in resources and talents to create a number of excellent Bashu style artistic works. The dance drama Red Army Flowers won the Excellent Drama Award of the 14 th Wenhua Prize of the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China. The dance drama Home was the Project of China National Classical Stage Arts: The Top Ten Classical Dramas Produced in 2016, the 2015 China National Arts Fund Project, the 2017 Multi-YearFund Project of China National Arts Fund, and awarded the 'Dance Drama Award' of the 10 th Lotus Awards China National Dance Competition. The dance drama The Howling Wind was awarded the 2017 China National Arts Fund Project. Both the co-produced large-scale musical Romance on Silk Road and the musical I am from Chuan Army were awarded China National Arts Fund. The dance works 'Forever Chuan Army' and 'The Silver Statues' won the 10 th and 11 th Lotus Awards China National Dance Competition respectively. In addition, the theater also produced a number of cultural and tourism repertoires.Secondly, recruiting and training outstanding talents to stimulate the developing vitality of the theater. To this end, Sichuan Song and Dance Theater has established a number of experts’ studios. It has cooperated with professional institutions in talent training. It also encourages its dancers and professionals to pursue advanced studies in higher education institutions, watch and learn outstanding works, develop artistic vision, and accumulate creative power. In terms of creating and choreographing repertoire, it takes the risk to hire young choreographers and directors, building a platform for their growth and talent.Thirdly, establishing the mechanism of artistic creation and management to strictly control the quality of works. To this end, the theater has set up an arts advisory committee to strengthen the institutional construction of artistic direction, focus more on exploration and research on Bashu cultural resources, refine the guidance and evaluation devoted to the artistic creations during preproduction time, and promote a more scientific and standardized decision-making of the artistic creation by hiring a number of well-known artistic experts to join the theater. At the same time, the theater has established the project demonstration system by issuing 'Evaluating Measures of Drama(Program) Creation and Production' to adapt to the marketization of artistic production mechanism.Fourthly, raising a variety of funds to guarantee the quality of artistic creation. Since 2015, Sichuan Song and Dance Theater has been funded by China National Arts Fund for three large-scale stage productions for three consecutive years. In addition, it has established longterm and stable strategic cooperation with mainstreamproducers and art production companies and launched a number of performance projects.Fifthly, building a performance platform and developing cultural and creative products. Sichuan Song and Dance Theater successfully hosted the 2017 Contemporary Art Performance Season. During the 12 days, a total of 11 performances were staged, including 7 outstanding domestic and international works. The theater included Australian projects to create a cultural event of China and the West to achieve a fusion of contemporary art across borders. Also, it integrated cultural and creative product development into its development plan to create new economic growth spots, which in turn fed the artistic creation and production. Up until now, it has developed the projects of cultural and creative products such as the dance drama Home and 2017 Contemporary Art Festival, and plans to develop the cultural and creative products related to the musical I am from Chuan Army and the dance drama The Howling Wind.Sixthly, cultivating the art performance market and upholding ticket admission for performances. For example, when the large-scale dance drama Home and the musical I am from Chuan Army were on tour, the theater sold tickets in a market-oriented approach(e.g., more favorable prices for general audience tickets) and no longer gave out free tickets, cultivating the audiences’ habits of paying for tickets of performances. To broaden the ticket promotion channels, the theater has not only used its official accounts on We Chat, Weibo, and its official website but also cooperated with the domestic mainstream media, TV stations, web portals, and We Chat celebrities for publicity, in addition to group buying channel.Seventhly, hosting public beneficial performances to enrich people’s spiritual life. Sichuan Song and Dance Theater has staged performances for public in cities, poverty-stricken mountainous areas, old revolutionary base areas, and campuses to enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the grass-roots and promote the construction of grassroots arts talents. A total of 86 charity performances were held throughout the year. The repertoire such as 'Flowers Vying with Each Other in Their Beauty' and 'Festival Costume' were included in the 'Happy Spring Festival' performance organized by the Ministry of Culture, which had 13 performances overseas,highlighting the unique charm of Chinese culture and rich and colorful folk customs of Sichuan and being well acclaimed. The modern dance company of the theater was invited to give four performances in Australia, demonstrating the new styles and features of Sichuan’s development.In the new year, Sichuan Song and Dance Theater will continue to fulfill the duties and obligations of the state-owned arts and cultural troupes, continue to promote the development of socialist literature and arts, bring excellent artistic works to a wider audience, and create more outstanding stage works in the exploration of the marketization of dance art.
