摘要 进入新世纪,杜威的实用主义教学思想重新受到重视。他关于从做中学、活动课程论、思维与教学过程以及师生关系的精辟见解,值得我国中小学英语教学改革借鉴。在实用主义教学思想的启示下,英语教学改革将朝着“以学生为主体、教师为主导,以任务为课程的主要内容,以思维发展过程为依据进行教学,做中学英语”的方向前进。这一发展趋势己在现阶段中小学英语课程改革中初显端倪。 Dewey's pragmatic teaching thoughts have attracted educators again at the threshold of the new century. His thoughts, such as learning by doing,activity curriculum, connection between thought process and teaching process, as well as the relationship between teachers and students, merit us using for reference in our fundamental English teaching. Enlighten by pragmatism, the English teaching reform will be oriented by the following ideas as students being main body in the class while teachers being guidance, tasks being the main contents of English curriculum, teaching according to the thought process and learning English by doing. This trend is emerging in our present fundamental English curriculum reform.
