The essence of'the death of the author'is to deny the author’s'presence'in the work, and to deprive the author of the right to control and interpret the text.In the biographical novels,David Lodge enters the novels as the author and critics to highlight the author’s presence;Lodge also writes the'prebiographic'process of'dialogue'with the protagonist of the novel into a novel and becomes an important part of the text.In his biographical novels,Lodge foregrounds the author’s acts of editing, writing, commenting and so on,and responds strongly to the denial of the author’s authority by modern critical theories, thus realizing'the return of the author'.
