Lin Daiyu is the most charming figure in A Dream of Red Mansions. Her life ending is undoubtedly a tragedy which results from many reasons. From the analysis on her speech and deportment, her inner world as well as her character and temperament, the causes of Lin Daiyu's tragedy were discussed. It was concluded that Lin Daiyu's tragedy was the inevitabile, and the inferiority complex played an indispensable role in the beginning, development and even ending of her tragic fate.
