As a famous American feminist critic, Nina Baym has focused on the study of American women writers in her forty-year academic career. Her contributions include her pioneer study of the 19thcentury American women's fiction, her penetrating analysis of the exclusion of women writers from the canon, and her multi-dimensional exploration of American women's writing. Her works have demonstrated the ground-breaking efforts of American feminist criticism and enriched the construction of a gender-conscious critical discourse.
