'中国现代文学研究','中国当代文学研究'总体上呈现为'世纪视角’’与'阶段视角'、'一体化'思维与'分期'思维的张力关系。两个领域之间呈现出包容一间离、遮蔽—共生、交错—层分等等复杂状态,在上世纪70年代末80年代初,'十七年文学'(包括'文革文学')在'中国当代文学研究'中被遮蔽,'中国现代文学研究'充任为阐释'中国当代文学研究'价值的'历史资源'和证人角色。80年代中期至90年代中期,'中国现代文学研究'在20世纪中国文学研究格局中逐步走向主导,具有了'元话语'身份。作为整体的中国当代文学各个历史阶段被关注的'差异性'异常突出,影响了人们对中国当代文学作为'学科'的'学科性'和'科学性'的认同与首肯。90年代中期至今,'中国现代文学'在20世纪中国文学研究中被普遍崇奉的'正统地位'开始受到质疑。中国当代文学学科的'对象性'得以凸显,'中国当代文学研究'的学术品格得到了大幅度提升。

The research on modern Chinese literature has long gained serious attention while the research on contemporary literature has,for decades,been neglected.The research made in the latter domain has been considered only a supplement to the former.As a result,it has not gained enough academic attention and recognition.Things have changed in the past decade.The research of contemporary C'hinese literature has walked out of the shadow of its forefather and is winning independence as a discipline.
