Comment on the Modern Value of Confucius Ethical Thoughts

本文首先对由四个方面的内容组成的儒家伦理思想大致的得失分别作了探讨;对儒家伦理思想在现代的地位作了评析;对儒家伦理思想的现代价值作了评估:在当今的社会主义道德建设中,可以并应该继承儒家伦理思想中积极的因素及合理的成分,但它决不会也决不能成为社会主义道德建设的基本立足点,而只能起到添砖加瓦的辅助作用。

This article discusses the merits and demerits of Confucius ethical thoughts which involve four aspects, and analyses their present status and evaluates their modern value: in the socialist moral construction. We should carry forward their merits but avoid their demerits. However, it is important that we should not put them as the foundation of our socialist moral construction.
