General Outline of Qing Palace Playbooks Collected in the Palace Museum

故宫博物院图书馆藏清宫戏本11491册,大都是清宫遗存,至今保存完好。清宫戏本包括有:月令承应戏、万寿戏、喜庆戏、连台本大戏、乱弹戏等。故宫博物院图书馆收藏的清宫戏本,是研究清宫戏曲宝贵的文化遗产,也是研究清宫戏台、演出服饰、切末道具及演职人员、演剧内容等等的第一手资料;同时故宫还保存有不少明末清初的民间时剧,及其他戏曲著作中不曾著录的珍稀善本和孤本。清宫戏本及其档案史料不仅是清代宫廷演剧的历史实证,同时也折射出清代宫廷盛衰史。清代戏曲艺术是清代帝后生活的缩影,保存下来的戏本具有重要的文献价值,在中国戏剧史上也占有重要的地位,也是研究清代宫廷史的第一手资料。

The library of the Palace Museum has a collection of 11491 Qing palace playbooks,most of which were well preserved from the Qing Dynasty till now,including Yuelingchengying xi,Wanshou xi,Xiqing xi,Liantaiben xi and luantan xi etc.These collections in the library of the Palace Museum are great cultural heritage,providing rich primary sources for research on plays,costumes,props,roles,characters and acting contents.Meanwhile,they also include ancient folk plays of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties,some unique copies and rare books.The Qing palace playbooks and the archaeological historical materials are not only the historical evidence of the Qing Dynasty court drama,but also reflect the history of the Qing Dynasty palace life.The art of opera in the Qing Dynasty was the epitome of the life of the emperors and their wifes in the Qing Dynasty.The preserved playbooks have important documentary value and also play an important role in the history of Chinese drama.It is also the first-hand material for studying the history of the Qing Dynasty.
